The Hamburg-based management consultancy TTE Strategy has been awarded first place in the category Strategy and second place in the category Operations (SMEs) in the current “Best of Consulting 2020” competition by WirtschaftsWoche. Other competition prizewinners include international management consultancies who have been established for decades, such as Capgemini, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG. There were 167 applicants in total.
“Founded five years ago, applying for the first time, taking first place for medium-sized strategic consultancies. I am incredibly proud of my team,” says Lars Linnekogel, Founder and Managing Director of TTE Strategy. In 2015, the former BCG consultant and Lufthansa project manager founded the company in Hamburg with the aim of developing a new kind of strategic consultancy.
“The approach moves away from strategic development behind closed doors with subsequent top-down implementation and towards an inclusive approach that incorporates all relevant hierarchical levels within the company from the outset,” says Lars Linnekogel. “I have seen a lot of strategies fail in practice because they ultimately were not supported by their employees. I was certain that an engaging approach with early employee integration would change this in a targeted way. The fact we have been named the number-one medium-sized consultancy by WirtschaftsWoche five years later is something I never envisaged at the time.”
Projects submitted by competition participants were inspected and evaluated by a jury. The jury members were: Julian Kawohl, Professor of Strategic Management in Berlin; Johannes Winter, Managing Director of German AI platform “Lernende Systeme” founded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech); as well as top management from the companies Clarion Europe, Evonik, Vaillant, and Windstar Medical.
Second place in Operations – TTE Strategy also in a leading position in transformation support
Lars Linnekogel says: “We not only develop the strategies; we implement them. With transformation, we are right by our clients’ side. For this reason, I am delighted that we are playing a leading role in the field of Operations too.” TTE Strategy was awarded second place in the field of improving operational processes and implementation support.

Founded and domiciled in Hamburg, TTE Strategy is a management consultancy with an international focus. In the current team are consultants from Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Chile, and Costa Rica. In November 2020, the first international office will be founded in Zug, Switzerland. Lars Linnekogel says: “We work with internationally oriented businesses – we think globally and act locally. There are very few boutique consultancies offering this kind of internationality. For us, this is an expression of diversity. Not only when it comes to gender and experience, but also culturally. This creates the open working culture and mentality that we bring to all of our projects.”
